Carrera Panamericana 2026 reaches Mexico City after Puebla and Veracruz stages

The 2026 Carrera Panamericana rally has concluded its recent stages, moving through Veracruz and Puebla before arriving in Mexico City. The competition features approximately 72 to 80 teams driving classic vehicles from the 1950s through the 1970s.

In Puebla, the event is projected to generate an economic impact of 8 million pesos, benefiting over 50 municipalities and driving hotel occupancy for more than 450 rooms. Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier highlighted the rally's role in promoting tourism and social coexistence, noting its media coverage in over 189 countries.

The route through Veracruz included 37 municipalities, facing challenging weather conditions such as rain and fog. During the transit toward Mexico City, a Ford Falcon was forced out of the competition after sliding into a ravine on the Tlapacoyan–Atzalan highway, though no injuries were reported.

The rally culminated at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Potosí driver Ricardo Cordero, navigating with Marco Hernández in a 1953 Studebaker Champion, is currently seeking his eighth title, which would set a new record for the competition.
