Carson Peters-Berger sentenced to life for murder of cousin Lily Peters

Carson Peters-Berger, 18, has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the first-degree intentional homicide of his 10-year-old cousin, Lily Peters. The plea was entered in a Chippewa County court.

The incident occurred in April 2022 in Chippewa Falls, where Lily was visiting family. Following her disappearance, her body was discovered in a wooded area near her discarded bicycle. According to criminal complaints, Peters-Berger, who was 14 at the time of the crime, admitted to planning the attack, which included physical assault and strangulation.

Prosecutors successfully argued to try Peters-Berger as an adult. He will be eligible for extended supervision in 25 years, with credit given for the four years he has already served in custody since his initial arrest.
