Casablanca authorities restrict use of public facilities for elections
As the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026, approach, authorities in the Casablanca-Settat region have issued strict instructions to political parties and candidates to ensure electoral integrity.
Local officials have warned against the misuse of public property, state institutions, and communal facilities for campaign purposes to maintain a level playing field. Specific warnings were issued regarding the neutrality of religious sites, such as mosques, and the prohibition of using administrative halls or centers for political propaganda.
In Casablanca, political tensions are rising. Ahmad Miftah, the regional coordinator for the Authenticity and Modernity Party in the Ain Chock district, raised concerns regarding the potential misuse of the Al-Makansa sports stadium. He alleged that individuals with political affiliations were using the public facility for activities that could compromise the separation between communal services and partisan campaigning. Some competitors have begun documenting social media content via judicial officers to prepare potential legal challenges or election appeals.
