Casablanca challenges Madrid for 2030 World Cup final hosting rights

The competition to host the 2030 World Cup final is intensifying between Casablanca, Morocco, and Madrid, Spain. As Morocco, Spain, and Portugal prepare to co-host the tournament, the location of the climactic match has become a point of institutional tension.

Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida expressed concerns regarding Spain's ability to secure the final, noting that Casablanca currently holds a more advantageous position. He acknowledged the political and institutional efforts being made by Morocco to secure the event and suggested that if the final is not held in Madrid, the significance of the tournament itself might be questioned.

Morocco is bolstering its bid through the development of the Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca. The proposed facility is expected to accommodate approximately 115,000 spectators. Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has voiced strong support for the Casablanca candidacy, highlighting the country's proactive infrastructure preparations.
