Casablanca police arrest two for phone hacking and NARSA impersonation fraud

Police in Casablanca arrested two individuals, aged 23 and 28, suspected of international phone call hacking and electronic fraud. The suspects allegedly used specialized information systems to intercept national telecommunications networks, converting international calls into local ones to exploit the price difference between the two services.

In addition to telecommunications piracy, the suspects are accused of conducting a sophisticated phishing scheme by impersonating the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA). They reportedly sent fraudulent text messages to victims claiming they had traffic violations, directing them to a fake electronic portal designed to mimic the official NARSA website to collect payments.

Searches conducted at the suspects' residences in Casablanca and Settat led to the seizure of dozens of SIM cards, top-up cards, a laptop, and various electronic devices used for receiving and converting internet bandwidth. The suspects are currently in custody as the National Judicial Police Brigade investigates the full extent of their criminal activities on both national and international levels.
