Casan expands sewage network in Florianópolis and Rio do Sul

The Companhia Catarinense de Águas e Saneamento (Casan) began a 60‑day project on Florianópolis' Avenida Atlântica, closing about 700 metres of the road to install and replace sewer lines. Traffic will be limited to residents, with alternative routes on nearby streets, and work will run daily from 07:00 to 17:00.

In Rio do Sul, Casan started expanding the municipal sanitation system in the Progresso neighbourhood. The first phase includes laying new collector pipes on Udemar Trapp and Oscar Hoffmann streets and connecting households to the sewer network. The overall plan adds 73 km of new collectors, activates 69 km of existing lines, creates approximately 3,800 new household connections and builds 14 lift stations, aiming to serve about 41 000 residents – roughly 60 % of the city – within two years. Partial road closures are planned where construction occurs, and Casan is coordinating with local authorities to minimise traffic impacts.
