Cascais man in preventive detention for domestic violence

A 34-year-old man has been placed in preventive detention in Cascais following allegations of long-term domestic violence against his 67-year-old mother. According to the Public Security Police (PSP), the suspect engaged in a pattern of aggressive, intimidating, and humiliating behavior over several years.

Investigations revealed that the suspect made death threats, used insults, and committed physical assaults, including striking the victim in the head and preventing her from leaving rooms in the house. In one instance, the man reportedly brandished a large kitchen knife while threatening his mother. A recent escalation involved the suspect spitting on the victim, pulling her hair, and grabbing her by the neck. The suspect also allegedly coerced the victim into writing a statement claiming she would voluntarily leave the residence while filming her with a mobile phone.
