Cascais opens new SNS 24 health service counters
Two new SNS 24 service counters have opened in the Cascais municipalities of Carcavelos e Parede and São Domingos de Rana. These centers are designed to bring National Health Service (SNS) digital and telehealth services closer to residents, particularly assisting those who face difficulties using digital tools or lack necessary equipment at home.
Available services at these locations include scheduling and rescheduling appointments, teleconsultations, viewing exam results, managing prescriptions, and accessing vaccination records. The centers also provide support for Portuguese Sign Language video calls and information regarding oral health. Users can access services through ‘Facilitated Access,’ where they perform operations with digital mediator support, or ‘Mediated Access,’ where staff can perform certain administrative tasks on behalf of the user.
The initiative highlights the role of local government in supporting public health. While these counters do not replace clinical responses, they aim to bridge the gap between the state and the community by facilitating access to information and essential health services.
