Cascais Secondary School opens with 32 million euro investment

The new Cascais Secondary School was inaugurated on September 21, coinciding with the start of the new academic year. The modern facility has a capacity for 1,320 students and features 44 classrooms equipped with interactive technology, laboratories, a library, an auditorium, a performing arts room, and a cafeteria.

The project represents a municipal investment exceeding 32 million euros, co-financed by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). This new construction ends a 51-year wait for a permanent facility, as the previous school established in 1975 was intended as a provisional solution for only 650 students.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stated that the Government and the President share a common vision regarding the importance of education in citizen formation. The event was attended by President António José Seguro, Minister of Education Fernando Alexandre, and Cascais Mayor Nuno Piteira Lopes. A second phase of the project, including outdoor arrangements and a new sports pavilion, is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
