Castel Volturno coastline: five illegal buildings to be demolished
Authorities are scheduled to demolish five illegal buildings on the Castel Volturno coastline on October 6. The operation targets structures built on maritime state land and is funded by the Campania Region.
This intervention is part of a broader crackdown led by the Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and the Prosecutor General at the Court of Appeal of Naples. Over the last two years, approximately 180 illegal structures have been seized, including private homes, beach establishments, a 38-unit tourist village spanning 14,000 square meters, a shipyard, and various equipment rental areas.
Investigations revealed that several seized beach clubs were managed by individuals linked to organized crime groups. The authorities aim to use these demolitions to restore public access to the coast, address environmental and landscape violations, and combat long-standing illegal occupation of the maritime domain.
