Castel Volturno illegal vehicle dismantling site seized by police

Police in Caserta have seized an area in Castel Volturno being used as an illegal landfill and a site for the illicit dismantling of vehicles. During the operation, authorities discovered five car carcasses that were identified as stolen property.

The site, located in a rural area along via Occidentale, contained recently registered vehicles that had been completely stripped of usable components. The remains were hidden under a bridge, likely to evade detection. Preliminary investigations suggest the stolen parts were intended for the illegal spare parts market.

Following the criminal seizure, the Italian Army assisted in removing the carcasses and other materials to allow for the remediation and securing of the site. The Caserta Highway Police are continuing investigations to identify those responsible for the thefts, dismantling, and illegal waste disposal, as well as potential links to spare parts trafficking networks.
