Castellammare di Stabia commissioners remove two top officials

The extraordinary commission appointed to Castellammare di Stabia has removed the head of the technical office, Lello Gargiulo, and the commander of the municipal police, Francesco Del Gaudio. Both officials were cited in reports leading to the dissolution of the municipal government due to Camorra criminal infiltration.

The technical office, which manages public works and contracts exceeding 18 million euros, was criticized for a lack of transparency, impartiality, and efficiency. The commission intends to appoint new officials recommended by the Prefecture to oversee these critical sectors.

Local residents have reported significant urban decay and a lack of oversight in the city. Reported issues include widespread street lighting failures, unmanaged illegal street vending, deteriorating infrastructure, and a perceived absence of law enforcement presence, contributing to a sense of administrative abandonment.
