Castellana Properties expands solar energy production in Portugal

Castellana Properties has installed photovoltaic plants at the LoureShopping and 8.ª Avenida shopping centers in Portugal. These installations are expected to produce more than 1.7 million kWh of solar energy annually.

The 8.ª Avenida facility, which has been operational since July 2025, has a capacity of 651 kWp and an estimated annual production of 851,000 kWh. The LoureShopping infrastructure, operational since March 2026, has a capacity of 614 kWp and is expected to produce approximately 877,000 kWh per year.

Developed through Castellana Green, a partnership with Sunbird Solar, these plants aim to supply electricity to the common areas of the shopping centers. This initiative is intended to reduce electricity purchased from the grid and lower energy costs for retailers and operators. The company plans to expand this strategy to RioSul Shopping and Forum Madeira. According to its FY26 Sustainability Report, Castellana Properties has reached 4,000 kWp of installed photovoltaic capacity, with 92% of electricity consumed in the common areas of its Iberian portfolio coming from renewable sources.
