Castellarano resident diagnosed with Dengue fever

A case of Dengue fever has been confirmed in a resident of Castellarano, Reggio Emilia, who recently returned from a trip to an endemic area. The patient is currently hospitalized for treatment.

In response, the Azienda USL IRCCS di Reggio Emilia, in collaboration with the municipalities of Castellarano and Reggio Emilia, has activated an extraordinary mosquito disinfection protocol. This plan, part of the regional surveillance and control program for arboviruses, includes adulticide treatments in public areas at dawn for three consecutive days, door-to-door larvicidal treatments in private areas, and larvicidal treatments in public drains.

Health authorities have stated that there are currently no other suspected cases and no health alarm. Dengue is a viral disease transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito and is not transmitted directly from person to person.
