Castellers de Vilafranca complete rare 3d9fa at Mataró Santes festival

On July 26, 2026, the Castellers de Vilafranca performed at the Diada de les Santes in Mataró, completing the 3d9fa – a human tower not seen in the town’s square since the 2019 Sant Fèlix event. The group also executed a 4d9f and other test structures, highlighting their preparation for ten‑level towers.

The local team, the Capgrossos de Mataró, opened the day's program with a 7d8 and later completed a 4d9f despite intense rain that forced a 15‑minute pause and a rescheduling of the third round. The festival began unusually early at 5 p.m. and featured a scheduled finishing hour, a first for the Santes celebration. The day also included a tribute to Mariona, a young casteller from the Capgrossos who died in an accident 20 years earlier during a similar event.
