Castelli Romani Park rangers rescue two injured birds of prey

Park rangers from the Castelli Romani Park have rescued two birds of prey following reports from local citizens in the Velletri and Zagarolo areas.

The first animal, a small owl found in the Velletri countryside, was discovered in a debilitated state and suffering from hypothermia. Medical assessments later revealed the owl had sustained a head trauma. The second bird, a honey buzzard, was located near Zagarolo with a serious leg injury.

Both birds received initial stabilization from park rangers before being transferred to the LIPU Wildlife Recovery Center (CFRS) in Rome for specialized veterinary rehabilitation. This rescue highlights a collaborative effort between local residents and institutions, part of an ongoing partnership between the Castelli Romani Park and LIPU to rescue and eventually release wildlife back into their natural habitats.
