Castellón enhances beach accessibility with new inclusive infrastructure

The Castellón tourism board and city council have upgraded the beaches of Pinar, Gurugú and Serradal with a range of accessibility features this summer. New flexi‑boardwalks reach almost to the water's edge, amphibious chairs for adults and children, adapted floats, amphibious crutches and additional shade tents have been installed. Adapted restrooms have replaced provisional facilities, and a programme of inclusive activities for people with reduced mobility runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. until 10 August.

The project also includes wider parking spaces with ramps and pedestrian crossings on Avenida Ferrandis Salvador, improving access from the bike lane to the shoreline. Tourism councillor Arantxa Miralles said the improvements "reflect the council’s commitment to removing barriers and providing accessible public spaces for everyone".
