Castelo Branco health service adds nine family doctors

The Unidade Local de Saúde (ULS) of Castelo Branco has hired nine new doctors specialized in General and Family Medicine. The appointments fill nine of the 16 positions opened in a June competition.

The new clinicians will work in the municipalities of Castelo Branco, Alcains and Sertã, covering four family health units in the city, a personalized health care unit in Castelo Branco, one in Alcains and three in Sertã. At the time the competition was announced, 21,113 patients—about 20.5% of the ULS’s registered users—were without a family doctor. The ULS expects the new hires to substantially reduce this figure and to bring relief and confidence to local residents.
