Castelsardo to host conference on Grazia Deledda and 20th-century art

The town of Castelsardo will host a conference titled ‘Dipingere con le parole. Grazia Deledda e l’arte del Novecento’ (Painting with Words: Grazia Deledda and 20th-Century Art) at the Castello dei Doria on Saturday, September 19. Organized by the municipality in collaboration with the InSchibboleth association, the event is linked to the exhibition ‘Ritorno al Novecento. L’Arte Sarda del XX secolo – La Collezione De Montis’, which runs at the castle until September 23.

Scientific direction for the conference is led by Angela Guiso, a scholar of Italian contemporary literature. The event will feature academic and artistic experts, including representatives from the Sassari Academy of Fine Arts, the ISRE museum pole, and the University of Cagliari.

Mayor Maria Lucia Tirotto noted that the event coincides with the centenary of Deledda’s Nobel Prize, emphasizing the importance of promoting the work of the only Italian woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature to new generations.
