Commemorations of Grazia Deledda

Overview

Events and publications surrounding the centenary of Nobel Prize-winning author Grazia Deledda’s recognition have emerged in Italy.

In Castelsardo, the municipality and the InSchibboleth association organized a conference titled ‘Dipingere con le parole. Grazia Deledda e l’arte del Novecento’ at the Castello dei Doria. The event, led by scholar Angela Guiso, connects Deledda’s literary legacy to 20th-century Sardinian art and is linked to the ‘Ritorno al Novecento’ exhibition.

Concurrently, Claudio Saltarelli released a two-volume tragedy, ‘Oltre i Girasoli di cui non t’ho detto’, which examines the personal hardships and social contradictions of Deledda’s life. Presented at PalabancaEventi, the work explores her youth, artistic formation, and the personal losses that shaped her journey toward the Nobel Prize.
