Castilla-La Mancha allocated 19 million euros for R&D projects

Castilla-La Mancha has been allocated 19 million euros from the INNTERCONECTA STEP 2026 call to promote research and development (R&D) projects. This funding is part of a larger 138 million euro budget managed by the CDTI, aimed at supporting cooperative projects led by companies that focus on disruptive and strategic technologies for Europe.

Charo Serrano, director of the Agency for Research and Innovation of Castilla-La Mancha (INNOCAM), emphasized that the initiative seeks to strengthen competitiveness and foster public-private collaboration. This follows the 2025 call, which approved 14 proposals involving regional companies with a budget of approximately 11 million euros.

On a broader scale, the financing of innovation is increasingly viewed as a central pillar of European economic autonomy and security. Discussions regarding the European Union's multi-annual financial framework for 2028-2034 suggest a budget of nearly two trillion euros, prioritizing research, resilience, and the reduction of dependencies through strategic industrial investments.
