Spain celebrates traditional grape harvests and wine culture
Various regions across Spain are celebrating traditional grape harvests and wine-related festivities. In Liébana, María Jesús Susinos was named an Honorary Member of the Brotherhood of Brandy, Orujo, and Wine, alongside Olympic medalist Juan Manuel Abascal being named 'Vinatero Mayor'.
In Benidorm, Alejandro Ramírez Soriano delivered a keynote speech linking the traditions of Tomelloso and La Mancha to the Mediterranean coast. Meanwhile, the Castilla-La Mancha government has allocated 190,000 euros to support regional houses, such as the one in Alcalá de Henares, which recently held its grape-treading festival.
Other local celebrations include the harvest festival in Moraleja del Vino, featuring traditional grape treading and local markets, and the grape-treading traditions in Alboloduy, Almería, which honors the town's agricultural history.
