Castilla-La Mancha launches sustainable event guide

The regional government of Castilla-La Mancha has launched the ‘Practical Guide for the Development of Sustainable Events’. Developed by the Directorate General for Circular Economy and Agenda 2030, the initiative aims to integrate environmental, social, and economic sustainability into the planning and execution of events throughout the region.

The guide provides recommendations for efficient water and energy management, waste prevention, sustainable mobility, responsible local procurement, universal accessibility, social inclusion, and carbon footprint measurement. It is based on the UNE-ISO 20121:2024 standard and is intended for public administrations, businesses, cultural and sports promoters, and tourism associations.

Mercedes Gómez, the Minister of Sustainable Development, stated that sustainability must transition from a mere statement of intent into a practical tool for daily decision-making. Additionally, a new call for subsidies related to Agenda 2030 actions was announced.
