Castilla-La Mancha promotes rural development via European funds

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has highlighted the importance of Local Action Groups (GAL) as essential tools for rural development and combating depopulation. Regional officials emphasized that these groups are vital for managing European funds to foster economic dynamism in small municipalities.

During recent visits to local projects, such as the 'Hoya del Agua' rural house and the Evayser factory, officials noted that these initiatives help generate employment and encourage residents to remain in rural areas. Specifically, the 2014-2022 Rural Development Program (PDR) is credited with mobilizing over 520 million euros, supporting more than 6,000 projects, and creating over 12,000 jobs.

The regional administration continues to advocate within the European Union for robust funding under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), particularly Pillar II, to ensure territorial cohesion and support the agricultural sector and generational renewal.
