Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia advance housing legislation
In Castilla-La Mancha, the regional government is promoting a new law designed to accelerate housing construction and simplify urban planning. The initiative aims to mobilize land resources and reduce administrative delays. A key measure involves repurposing unused tertiary land for protected public housing, which officials claim could increase buildability and density by approximately 20 percent. The law also introduces Urban Renewal Programs (PRU) to facilitate the comprehensive transformation of long-standing neighborhoods.
Separately, in Andalusia, the regional government and the Spanish central government have reached an agreement to resolve jurisdictional disputes regarding the Andalusian Housing Law. This pact, announced by Housing Counselor Rocío Díaz, avoids the need for a Constitutional Court ruling. The agreement addresses technical aspects and alignment with state regulations, particularly concerning public-private collaboration and public procurement, ensuring legal certainty for the region's housing policies.
