Castilla y León announces livestock subsidies and sanitary emergency plans

The regional government of Castilla y León has announced a 2 million euro subsidy program aimed at promoting the breeding and registration of purebred livestock in official genealogical books. The initiative, managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Affairs, and Environmental Policy, seeks to preserve the region's genetic heritage and support extensive livestock farming by covering costs associated with official animal registration.

In a separate development, Joaquín Antonio Pino, the regional Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Affairs, and Environmental Policy, has proposed the creation of a sanitary emergency unit. Following meetings with veterinary unions Sivecal and Uscal, Pino emphasized the need for improved technical capacity to respond rapidly to threats to animal health. The proposal also includes a push for a unified national command structure to ensure coordinated responses to sanitary emergencies affecting the livestock sector.
