Castilla y León announces record 790 specialist training slots for 2027

The autonomous community of Castilla y León has confirmed the largest ever offering of specialist health‑training positions for 2027, with a total of 790 slots – a 3 % rise on the previous call. The allocation comprises 444 hospital specialty places, 190 family and community medicine positions and 156 specialised nursing posts, covering areas such as anaesthesiology, emergency medicine, mental health and obstetrics‑gynaecology. This figure represents 97.2 % of the 813 slots accredited by Spain’s Ministry of Health and makes Castilla y León the leader in Spain for training places per 100 000 inhabitants.

Within the region, the province of Segovia will host 39 of the new positions: 23 hospital specialties, 8 family‑medicine placements and 8 nursing training posts. The programme aims to reinforce the health‑care workforce, facilitate generational renewal and ensure broader coverage across primary, hospital and nursing care.
