Castilla y León cancels theater production in Valladolid

The theater company Proyecto 43-2 has had its production, ‘Federico. No hay olvido, ni sueño: carne viva’, canceled in Valladolid. The play was scheduled for October 24 as part of a cycle organized by the Fundación Siglo, which operates under the Castilla y León regional government's Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sport.

The regional administration cited ‘unpostponable works’ as the reason for the cancellation. However, the company noted that these works have no specified start or end dates and have not prevented the normal use of the venue or affected other scheduled performances. The cancellation was communicated via email on October 2, despite 70% of tickets already being sold.

The play focuses on the forensic and archaeological processes of excavating mass graves rather than solely on the figure of poet Federico García Lorca, exploring themes of memory and the disappeared.
