Castilla y León to receive 32.7 million euros in EU aid for fire recovery

Castilla y León will receive 32.7 million euros from the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) to recover from the devastating third wave of forest fires that struck Spain during the summer of 2025. This allocation is part of a total of 120.55 million euros approved by the Council of the European Union for Spain to address the emergency.

The funds are intended to compensate for public spending related to emergency response, the repair of critical infrastructure, and the restoration of basic public services. An initial advance of 8.2 million euros has been allocated to Castilla y León, representing 25% of its total aid. The remaining funds will be disbursed as administrative justifications for expenses are processed.

In a separate effort to manage water scarcity and supply issues, approximately thirty municipalities in Segovia have benefited from a drought agreement. This program provides water supplies and funding for small-scale infrastructure repairs, such as pump replacements and well cleaning, to mitigate the effects of shortages and contamination.
