Catalan authorities approve airport safety plan and reinforce bus services

The Civil Protection Commission of Catalonia has approved the self-protection plan (PAU) for Girona-Costa Brava Airport. This approval validates the facility's protocols, resources, and measures for risk prevention and emergency response. The airport was the only infrastructure in the Girona region to pass the evaluation among 42 plans reviewed recently.

In Catalonia, 20 other self-protection plans were rejected due to technical deficiencies or insufficient resources. These rejected plans included facilities involving hazardous substances, campsites at risk of fire or flooding, a road tunnel, a sports port, a sports facility, and a hospital.

Separately, the Generalitat de Catalunya has launched a new phase of its second shock plan to improve interurban bus services. This initiative aims to mitigate the impact of recurring instability in the Rodalies rail network. The plan involves 13 lines across Catalonia and is supported by an annual budget of 21.5 million euros.

In the Baix Llobregat region, the L63 line connecting Sant Andreu de la Barca, Pallejà, and Barcelona will see increased service starting September 14. The line will offer 26 daily trips toward Barcelona and 20 daily trips toward Sant Andreu de la Barca on working weekdays.
