Catalan Book Week returns to Barcelona with record-breaking scale

Catalan Book Week Barcelona Catalan language publishing industry literary events

The 44th edition of the Catalan Book Week (Setmana del Llibre en Català) is set to take place in Barcelona from September 18 to 27, 2026. Under the slogan ‘Molt per veure, molt per llegir’ (Much to see, much to read), the event is expected to be the largest in its history.

Spanning 9,000 square meters at Passeig de Lluís Companys, the festival will host 332 exhibitors, 98 stalls, and 282 publishing imprints. The program includes over 350 activities, such as book presentations, round tables, and family-oriented events. For the first time, the Casa de la Creació Digital will participate, showcasing digital literary content in Catalan.

Oriol Magrinyà, president of the Association of Catalan Language Publishers, described the event as a vital showcase for the Catalan-language publishing sector and a means of cultural resistance. In addition to the main event in Barcelona, regional branches in Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, and Terres de l'Ebre are organizing related activities to promote Catalan literature.
