Catalan political tensions rise over financing and police conduct
In Catalonia, political and social tensions have surfaced regarding fiscal policy and police conduct. Jordi Turull, Secretary General of Junts, has demanded control over financial resources as a condition for supporting a new financing model for Catalonia. Turull highlighted the annual fiscal deficit of 22 billion euros and indicated that Junts may present an alternative text in Congress to advocate for an economic concert for the region.
Separately, Club Esportiu Europa has denounced the actions of Spanish police during a match against Alcorcón. The club alleges that a supporter was treated disproportionately after displaying an independentist flag. According to the club and witness reports, officers grabbed the fan by the neck, threw him to the ground, and struck him. The Spanish government's delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, has called for prudence and urged against premature conclusions, stating that information received does not align with the club's statements.
