Catalan pro-independence parties propose municipal pact

Proposals have emerged for a municipal pact among pro-independence parties in Catalonia—specifically Junts, ERC, and CUP—to ensure political stability and prevent governance blockages in upcoming elections.

The proposed framework includes three primary commitments: automatic voting for the most-voted pro-independence list among the three parties to avoid deadlocks, a preference for forming coalition governments to secure solid majorities, and a strict ‘sanitary cordon’ against parties associated with the application of Article 155, such as PSC, PP, Vox, and Aliança Catalana.
