Catalan summer festivals feature community events and human tower displays
Various summer festivities and cultural traditions are taking place across Catalonia. In Calella, the second edition of the Mare de Déu d’Agost summer festival is being organized at Parc Dalmau. Following a successful inaugural event that drew 1,200 people, organizers have adjusted logistics to improve service and capacity. The event features a communal dinner, live music from various artists, and a DJ.
In La Bisbal del Penedès, the Mare de Déu d’Agost celebration will feature high-level human tower (castells) performances. Major groups, including Castellers de Vilafranca, Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls, and Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls, are expected to participate. The event serves as a significant mid-season test for these groups as they aim for complex structures such as the 4de9 and 3de9 with folre.
