Catalonia announces €1.16 million grant for home upgrades for seniors

The Catalan government has opened a public, non‑competitive call for subsidies to finance interior home adaptations for people aged 65 or older. A total budget of €1,160,000 is available for the provinces of Girona, Tarragona, Lleida and the Terres de l’Ebre. Eligible households must include a senior living permanently at the address, and the subsidy covers 100 % of eligible costs up to €4,000 per dwelling, with a maximum project cost of €8,000.

Works that can be funded include bathroom renovations (e.g., replacing bathtubs with showers, adapting toilets), kitchen safety upgrades (e.g., replacing gas hobs with electric ones), and general accessibility improvements such as anti‑slip flooring, wider doors, and handrails. Applications are accepted from 01 July 2026 09:00 until 30 September 2026 14:00.
