Catalonia earmarks €30 million for new bus rapid corridor and road upgrades

The Catalan government announced a €25.1 million tender this summer for a rapid‑bus corridor (BRCat) linking Blanes and Lloret de Mar via the GI‑682. The 7.2 km route will cut travel time to about 20 minutes, add a 6.1 km bike lane, improve access to Blanes hospital and is expected to raise demand on lines 1 and 6 by 8 % for the 1.3 million annual passengers.

In the 2026 budget, the Generalitat allocated more than €5.4 million to upgrade the GI‑633 road between Colomers and Verges, one of several projects funded from a €125 million package for Girona’s comarques. The road works aim to boost safety and mobility in the Baix Empordà region as part of a broader investment that includes €61 million for roads and €31.5 million for a marine‑energy research platform.
