Catalonia expands social inclusion and occupational centers

Several social inclusion and occupational initiatives have launched in Catalonia. In Manlleu, the Sant Tomàs Foundation inaugurated a new 260-square-meter occupational center at Passatge del Vendrell. Following a 700,000 euro investment, the facility is designed to serve 18 users and promote their daily integration into the community. Additionally, the Generalitat has confirmed a 400,000 euro contribution to Sant Vicenç de Torelló to equip a 17-place residential unit.

In Sabadell, the organization CIPO has expanded its labor inclusion network with the opening of L’Amanidor d’El Velòdrom at the La Creu Alta – Cal Balsach Civic Center. This new catering and restaurant establishment aims to provide real-world work opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The project also serves as a training site for students, bridging the gap between education and the labor market. CIPO’s catering service currently employs 21 professionals, 11 of whom have intellectual disabilities.
