Aliança Catalana overtakes Junts in Catalonia poll

The latest Centre d’Estudis d’Opinió (CEO) barometer shows Aliança Catalana surging from two seats to about 24‑25 seats in the Catalan Parliament, displacing Junts per Catalunya to fourth place with only 16‑18 seats. The poll indicates that roughly 28 % of Junts voters are considering a switch to Aliança, while another 9 % look to ERC and 4 % to the PSC, meaning Junts could lose more than 40 % of its electorate.

Aliança Catalana is led by Silvia Orriols, whose hard‑line, anti‑immigration and Islamist‑fear rhetoric is described as an “ultra‑right” platform that aligns closely with Vox’s agenda. The party’s growth is being fueled by disillusioned voters who feel the historic pro‑independence narrative has failed to deliver.

Junts per Catalunya is hoping for a turnaround if Carles Puigdemont returns from exile; the European Court of Justice is expected to rule on an amnesty‑law case that could affect his ability to re‑enter Catalonia. Internally, Junts is split between supporters of Puigdemont’s comeback and those advocating a return to the former Convergència model.

At the municipal level, former Junts councilor Enric Daza announced his move to Aliança Catalana for the 2027 Cambrils elections, illustrating the party’s expanding appeal.

Separate from this political shift, a dispute within Barcelona’s Cambra de Comerç between its president and the Pimec federation over the expansion of “sillas de plata” was reported, but it is unrelated to the Catalan electoral dynamics.
