Catalonia housing poll shows majority support for price regulation

A recent Ipsos poll regarding the housing crisis in Catalonia reveals significant public preference for government intervention. Approximately 45% of respondents support regulating sale and rental prices to improve affordability, while 38% favor increasing the supply of public housing and providing more subsidies without price controls.

Only 10% of Catalans believe the market should be left to operate freely through reduced taxes and regulations. Support for price regulation varies by political affiliation: it is most prevalent among left-wing voters, such as those supporting CUP (67%) and ERC (57%), but also maintains notable support among certain nationalist and far-right groups. Conversely, voters for the PP and Vox show much lower support for price regulation, preferring instead the construction of public housing and financial aid.
