Catalonia plans new high-speed rail station in Vallès

The Government of Catalonia has launched a tender for the first phase of the Eix Transversal Ferroviari study. This infrastructure project aims to connect Lleida and Girona without passing through Barcelona.

The project includes a planned high-speed AVE station in the Vallès region, which would allow transfers between high-speed rail, Rodalies, and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC). The proposed route involves a new branch between Martorell and Mollet, enabling trains from Madrid to enter Barcelona via Sagrera.

The first stage of works, covering the stretch between Lleida, Igualada, and Martorell, is estimated to cost 1.5 million euros and will take over two years to complete. The plan ensures that high-speed trains will stop at least once in every county the line traverses.
