Catalonia poll shows rightward shift as PSC plunges and Aliança Catalana surges

A recent Sigma Dos poll for El Mundo projects a dramatic re‑configuration of the Catalan parliament. The Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC) would drop to about 23.9% of the vote, translating into 33‑35 seats, a loss of up to nine deputies. Junts would fall to 20‑24 seats, while the emerging Aliança Catalana, led by Sílvia Orriols, could win 19‑22 seats, becoming the third‑largest force. Both Vox and the Catalan People's Party (PP) are projected at 13‑15 seats each, and the traditional nationalist bloc (ERC, CUP) would hold around 19‑21 seats. The distribution leaves no coalition capable of reaching the 68‑seat absolute majority, rendering the regional parliament effectively ingovernable and raising the prospect of a repeat election unless parties break their current “cordon sanitaire.”
