Catalonia regions Baix Empordà and Segarra roll out housing rehabilitation and vacancy programs

The Consell Comarcal del Baix Empordà signed a collaboration agreement with the Europace Foundation to promote the GiDomus energy‑retrofit project. The initiative will provide free technical and financial guidance to owners of multi‑unit buildings, starting with a pilot programme and an information session on 29 September. A new single‑point office will serve Baix Empordà, Alt Empordà and La Selva, centralising advice and support for energy‑efficient renovations.

Meanwhile, the Consell Comarcal de la Segarra approved a regulation establishing a Housing Bank to match owners of around 400 vacant homes with people seeking to buy or rent. The scheme will operate through a dedicated website, with the public authority acting as a trusted intermediary and offering advice on renovation subsidies and rental grants. Local municipalities will help promote the platform and assist owners in bringing vacant properties to market.
