Catalonia reports new African Swine Fever cases in wild boars
The Generalitat de Catalunya has confirmed four new cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in wild boars, located in Barcelona (two cases), Molins de Rei (one case), and Esplugues de Llobregat (one case). These cases were identified through carcasses found in the environment and an animal killed in a vehicle collision.
Since the outbreak began in late November 2025, a total of 379 positive wild boar cases have been recorded across 13 municipalities. To date, authorities have analyzed 11,029 animals, of which 10,650 tested negative. In the last week alone, 306 wild boars were captured within the high and low-risk infected zones.
Control efforts involve 884 personnel, including intervention groups. Meanwhile, access to the Collserola natural area and certain zones in Sant Cugat remains closed to the public as restrictions continue.
