Catanduva police investigate death of man at motel

The Civil Police in Catanduva, São Paulo, are investigating the death of 33-year-old Fabrício Augusto Das Neves, which occurred at a motel on October 12. The deceased was accompanied by pastor Alex Sandro Soares Zeca and Ana Lígia Oliveira do Carmo.

Reports indicate the group consumed alcohol and drugs during their stay. Following the consumption, Das Neves reportedly fell ill and suffered convulsions. While one witness attempted to provide aid, the pastor allegedly attempted to flee the premises. The death was confirmed on-site by emergency medical services (Samu), and the body was sent to the Medical Legal Institute (IML) for examination.

Alex Sandro Soares Zeca has a prior criminal record, including a November 2025 arrest for domestic violence and illegal possession of a firearm following a report by his daughter. He has also faced recent allegations of domestic violence. The current investigation is treating the incident as a suspicious death and is looking into potential charges involving drug possession and property damage.
