Catania police arrest man for scooter robbery and extortion
Police in Catania have arrested a Tunisian national following a robbery involving a stolen electric scooter. The incident occurred near Piazza Turi Ferro, where the suspect allegedly snatched the handlebars from a Bangladeshi man, threatening him with a knife to prevent resistance.
Following the theft, the suspect attempted to extort money from the victim by proposing to return the scooter through a third party in exchange for payment. Officers located the individual on the stolen vehicle in Via Giovanni di Prima. The suspect has been arrested for aggravated robbery and attempted extortion, and has been placed in custody by order of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Catania.
