Catania police chase leaves three officers injured, suspect arrested

A man driving a stolen vehicle fled from a Polizia di Stato patrol on the Tangenziale di Catania after police spotted him. He attempted to ram the police car, causing a high‑speed pursuit that ended at the Zia Lisa exit.

The suspect lost control of the car, collided with a wall on Corso Indipendenza, and tried to escape on foot before being detained. Three police officers were injured during the chase, and several parked vehicles sustained damage. The vehicle had been reported stolen the previous day from a dealership in Siracusa. The man, already known to law enforcement, was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, dangerous escape, and resistance to public officials, and placed under house arrest.
