Catania police rescue 32 animals from neglect in Librino garage

State Police in Catania rescued 20 puppies and 12 ferrets found in poor hygienic conditions in a garage located in the Librino district. The intervention occurred during a routine patrol after officers heard persistent barking coming from inside a local property.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that a 55-year-old man had kept the animals, which included various puppy breeds, in small, dirty cages within an environment lacking the minimum requirements for animal welfare. Veterinarians from the Asp of Catania confirmed that some puppies were malnourished and lacked microchips.

The animals were seized and handed over to veterinary rescue services. The 55-year-old owner has been reported to the judicial authorities for animal cruelty and detention in conditions incompatible with the animals' nature. Additionally, local police issued a 2,700 euro fine to the garage owner for environmental violations.
