Catania selects San Giuseppe La Rena for 2026 Fiera dei Morti

The city of Catania has finalized the location for the 2026 Fiera dei Morti. The event is scheduled to take place from approximately October 24 to November 2 in the San Giuseppe La Rena district, specifically on via Amerigo Vespucci. This area, which previously hosted a flea market near the entrance of the former wholesale fruit and vegetable market, was selected following concerns regarding the initial proposal to use the Nesima Cittadella dello Sport parking lot.

The decision was approved by the municipal council upon the recommendation of the Councilor for Productive Activities, Giuseppe Musumeci. The change follows assessments regarding public safety, traffic management, and overall organization. Mayor Enrico Trantino acknowledged the logistical difficulties in organizing an event of this scale, noting the need to balance the requirements of approximately 150 exhibitors with the needs of local citizens and public security, especially considering increased passenger traffic at Fontanarossa Airport during the holiday period.

The festival will feature around 150 operators offering artisanal products, food and beverages, and recreational activities. Operating hours will be from 9:00 to 24:00 on holidays and pre-holidays, and from 9:00 to 22:30 on weekdays.
