Catania Tribunal hosts conference on proximity justice project

The “Uffici di Prossimità – La giustizia più vicina ai cittadini” project is continuing its cycle of thematic conferences, with the next meeting scheduled at the Tribunal of Catania on September 23. This initiative is led by the Ministry of Justice and implemented by the Sicilian Region with support from Formez.

The project aims to establish local territorial hubs to simplify access to judicial services and create a network connecting citizens, municipalities, social services, and the justice system. In the Catania area, proximity offices have opened or are opening in Adrano, Giarre, and Gravina di Catania. While these three municipalities serve approximately 85,000 residents, the impact is expected to extend to the surrounding 44 municipalities, which have a combined population of nearly 925,000.

Patrizia Ravaioli, Director General of Formez, stated that the quality of public administration is measured by its ability to be close to citizens in the exercise of their rights, noting that digitalization and technological innovation are key to making these services more accessible.
