Overview

The “Uffici di Prossimità” (Proximity Offices) project, a joint initiative between the Sicilian Region and the Ministry of Justice, is implementing a series of meetings and conferences across Sicily to promote judicial services. The program, supported by Formez, aims to bring justice closer to citizens by strengthening networks between the judiciary, local authorities, and social services.

Following initial meetings in Ragusa and Patti, the project held a conference at the Tribunal of Catania on September 23. In the Catania area, proximity offices are being established in Adrano, Giarre, and Gravina di Catania. While these specific locations serve roughly 85,000 residents, the initiative is expected to impact 44 surrounding municipalities with a combined population of nearly 925,000. Formez Director General Patrizia Ravaioli noted that digitalization and technological innovation are essential to making these services more accessible.
